What is ColicStop?
ColicStop is a unique, patent
pending formula consisting of natural ingredients specially prepared and concentrated
from herbal sources, easily absorbed electrolytes, pH buffering agents and gentle
hydrating and micellizing agents. It contains all natural, high quality
ingredients that work, and work fast.
Perhaps the most unique thing about ColicStop is that it is an effective
treatment for an active case of colic, rather than a preventative measure like
most other horse colic products. ColicStop is there for you immediately
in the moment of crisis to stop a dangerous gas, spasmodic or impaction colic
episode from progressing into a surgical emergency. ColicStop is
designed to be a vital part of your barn’s first aid kit, and is perfect
to take along on trail rides and camping trips, or any place where you will
be away from immediate veterinary care. ColicStop was designed by active ‘horse
people’ who know how hard it can be to get emergency medications into
an agonized thrashing horse. It is concentrated into a small dose
size, and prepared for you in a simple ‘wormer tube.’ With
ColicStop in your barn you can have peace of mind and a simple action plan
to help your horse if he becomes one of the 10% of horses who get colic each
year.
ColicStop was designed by a licensed family physician who holds a Doctorate
degree in Naturopathic Medicine from one of the world’s leading natural
medical colleges, Bastyr University. She has many years of experience
in designing powerful and safe natural remedies for her clients and her animals. Colicstop
was carefully tested on her own large stable of loved and valuable horses
during its lengthy design stage before being tested by other horse owners,
and finally is now available to you.
ColicStop is also unique for what it does not contain. It has NO ‘fillers’,
NO chemicals, and NO pharmaceutical drugs. It does not contain atropine
like some dubious colic ‘remedies’ and does NOT shut down peristalsis
(mobility) of the intestine. (Note: If your vet has a concern with your
using a natural or alternative colic treatment, he/she has probably had a bad
experience with a client using one of these other ‘patent remedies’ for
colic in the past. These were/are known for some dangerous side effects,
like stopping intestinal motion, or they contained herbs that were toxic or
too strong. These are totally and completely different from ColicStop.) ColicStop
was designed with the Naturopathic Medical principle of ‘First do no Harm’ foremost
in mind. It is safe to use on any type of colic. (See the Colic
Information page for more on the different types of colic. ColicStop
is intended specifically for effective use on the most common types of colic:
spasmodic, gas and impaction colics.)
Unlike many ‘natural
remedies', ColicStop is designed to be safely given to your horse before and
with standard veterinary care, in the unlikely event that such care becomes
necessary. We believe that good equine health care should be ‘synergistic,’ in
that different types of medicine can work best when applied intelligently together. For
example, a relatively small percentage of equine colic cases (approximately
7% ) are caused by a portion of intestine that becomes twisted, causing immense
pain and eventual death of that portion of the ‘gut wall.’ Colic
Stop will not physically untwist a loop of intestine, only surgery or the intervention
of god can do that! However, ColicStop given to a horse with this condition
will not harm the horse, and is not contraindicated before colic surgery, any
more than are your vet’s treatments (like mineral oil administration or ‘bute’). ColicStop
is helpful in these rare cases, since its pain relieving qualities can delay
shock and therefore improve the results of emergency veterinary care. It
is ok to use ColicStop on a horse that has been given pharmaceutical painkillers
like ‘bute’ and ‘Banamine.’™ It is even
safe to use with conventional mineral oil treatments, although mineral oil will
dilute ColicStop and reduce its effectiveness. (For best results, we
suggest 20 minutes or more elapse after giving your horse ColicStop One and
Two before giving mineral oil. See Instructions page) |
